I was really looking forward to get my hands on Kitty Goes to War, the cover is gorgeous and the plot sounded awesome! Besides our beloved Cormac is finally back!
Kitty Goes to War is a great addition to the series. The introduction of the werewolves in the military was a great one and it made for a great and emotional story.
This time Kitty doesn't go away, so we get more Ben and with the return of Cormac things have the potential to get really awkward, but for me that storyline just fell flat =/ Cormac being back is an awesome addition to the series, but I felt like more could have been done with it. However I did really enjoy finally finding out his secret and I am dying to see how that pans out.
All in all, even though I liked Kitty Goes to War, I didn't love it. I feel like something was missing from it, but plot wise it was a very entertaining book that I actually couldn't put down until I finished. The action is great and it definitely is a page turner, but emotionally it just fell short.

Kitty Goes to War Kitty Norville Carrie Vaughn Books Reviews
Carrie Vaughn does an amazing job that makes it all work out in the end. All her books makes you sit at the edge of your seat -wondering what happens next.
And it's definitely a new topic for Kitty to experience.
I do wish she could have put a bit more of Cormac's big secret more in detail though. I know she made a separate book about it but it still leaves you a little confused and wondering more about it.
~Happy Reading~
This was a darn good sequel in the Kitty series. Not only was it a page-turner (I love the fast pace of this book), but it also developed characters like Cormac. (I hate when characters get stale and pigeonholed.)
I'm getting a little tired of Ben because it's just too perfect and no tension. He's such a good boyfriend that it's kinda dull. I hope Vaughn explores the Kitty/Cormac storyline in much more detail later on.
Good thing I like how Vaughn will mentioned something in one book, and then explore it in a future book. (example Cormac asks Kitty to research a ghost while he's in jail. There's a reason for it.)
My 13-year-old is a massive Kitty fan and has read every ... single ... one ... of Carrie Vaughn's books. And ... she got to meet her at BOSKONE this past winter to get it autographed (Carrie Vaughn LOOKS a little bit like Kitty on the cover!). I finally got around to reading the series (after prying it out of my teenagers hands) and enjoyed it as well. It is one of those crossover series that has equal appeal to adults and teenagers.
So far I have enjoyed all the books in this series and this one does not dissappoint. I enjoy the author's world building and each expansion makes sense and adds to the feeling of truely knowing the characters. I was involved in the story and I just don't feel Carrie Vaughn writes fast enough. I enjoy finding out in each book how Kitty's feeling of responsibilty for her pack grows and how she is trying to make a safe haven in an ever crazy world. Looking forward to Kitty's next adventure. If you like Urban Fantasy with a little romance thrown in, don't be afraid to try this series out, it is exciting without the silliness that exists in other paranormal storylines.
I really do like how Kitty always manages on getting into trouble. In this book Kitty faces interesting characters and the story was engaging enough. The stuff with Cormac has me a little worried that in books to come the storyline is going to become ridiculous like some of the longer tv shows or book series get. I am hoping that I am wrong about that. Onward to the next book.
Hooray for Carrie Vaughn's Kitty NOrville. Kitty Goes to War is a much better read than the last one, Kitty's House of Horrors. I thought maybe Ms Vaughn was losing her touch after 6 books. Not unknown to happen, its hard to carry a character through several books and still be fresh and engaging. It was hard for me to get in to the other characters who seemed a lot like cardboard targets.
THis one is better. The premise of werewolf berserkers and what could go wrong in the military and fitting in to stateside life again was a good one though still a bit bare bones with character development and how the pack operated overseas. Too bad we didnt get to know Vanderman and Walters a bit better and educate Colonel Stafford a bit more.
I agree the Franklin/Cormac/SpeedyMart connection was a bit thin as an understory and could have been more developed. Almost a teaser for something done from Cormac's viewpoint perhaps.
What can i say? I wouldnt have minded a 500 page book LOL.
The characters are ever more interesting. The two man plots are very good. The one with Speedy Mart and the supernatural turns out to be very amusing. Franklin the owner seems to over react but... The other plot involves Dr. Shumacher the head of the CSPB (government group in charge of investigating supes). Seems that she is working with he Army who are trying to deal with some fall out of Dr. Flemming's (previous head and rater unethical type see Kitty Goes to Washington (Kitty Norville, Book 2)). The fall out is some clandestine werewolves. Kitty is determined to help the weres (her continuing helpfulness to all the supies is one of her more endearing traits) and that gets really complicated. Lastly there are some rather odd changes in Cormac. they have been simmering in the background for some time and come to an unexpected conclusion. With these well done themes and plots why only 4 1/2 stars? Well the conclusion with Cormac's secret coming out is a little too deus ex machina for me. The military folding is believable as I can see them not wanting the public reaction to them infecting soldiers with the virus to make them better weapons. Particularly as the officer responsible is conveniently dead.
