This is a BAD book.In EVERY respect. In one 15 page section she uses the words squirm, squirmed, and squirming 11 times. During the same 15 pages her lead female character calls someone "mister funny man", mister question man", "mister smart man", "mister fashion man", "mister chef man ", "mister attorney man", and "bucko". Who talks this way ? The book never improves. Finally she just stops writing. There is no conclusion.Tags : Thief of Hearts [Victoria Taylor Murray] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Lambert is more than a resort on a island. I like the author's style; a bawdy lady that is unafraid to tell an erotic tale, and even the concept of the novel was good---though not original--- but a professional edit is a must; just a simple spell check may have helped. The author gets happy with a phrase or an adjective and soon everyone is using it. The mistakes are intrusive and perpetual throughout the book and keeps you from getting into the flow, so this book that is barely larger than a novella becomes a chore to read. Miss Murray must focus on character development and dialogue, so that everyone does not respond in the same voice and interact and react identically. The story is set in the right place and all the characters are gathered for an epic adventure, but the thriller aspect was never realized. Perhaps if she takes one more stab at it once she develops her abilities, she may yet get it. . . this could've been a sensational book.
I must admit that I was let down after reading all of the other raving reviews.
The book was difficult or a bit rough to read. In several areas there were typos or just no direction and as a result I had a hard time determining whether it was a narration or a character speaking. Plus there were a couple of areas that just did not flow real well. It was like the author was jumping around or lost focus about what she was writting about. The plot was good and had great potential and there was a deal of suspense but unfortunatly the hard spots made it difficult to follow. If you are willing to overlook these items then by all means purchase the book. This author has potential and I hope that she lives up to this potential in the following books.
I really liked this book. It has a very interesting plot no one is as they seem, everyone is cheating on everyone and everyone has secret passions that are DEMANDING to be met. The characters are all interesting and well developed and the author has you guessing whats going to happen next? throughout the whole book...right to the very last page. I cant wait to read forbidden, I hope it is as enjoyable as this one was.
The only reason i gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because the dialogue was rather flat, the same words being repeated and people always addressing other people with their names, throughout a whole conversation, got a little annoying. Also the fact that every man in the whole world seems to be in love with Nouri, Its like shes some sort of goddess or something..i can overlook those things because as I said I did really like the book. It was fun to read and full of suspense & romance a very thrilling combination!
Move over Danielle Steele and Grace Metalious and make room for your new rival. I know mentioning Grace Metalious dates me, but she was after all the one time reigning queen of sizzling sex and quirky characters. And Grace has nothing on this author.
Upscale East Bay Lambert sets the locale for this first in Ms. Murray's Lambert Series. This chic haven for the very rich offers everything that jaded appetites might want and more. Scandalous behavior is the norm, and intemperance in all activities is encouraged. Everything from drug and alcohol excesses to swinging or perverted lifestyles are overlooked at Lambert.
Nouri Sommers is somewhat of a lamb amidst the pack of wealthy jackals who frequent Lambert. She has past loves but is now very married to the handsome and powerful Ethan, with just one little problem. The sexy Ethan isn't quite as sexy as he looks. At least, not where his young bride is concerned. Night after night she sits alone in their huge mansion, pouring her heart out in a journal to ease her loneliness and longing for her husband. Lonely bride + inattentive husband is bad enough, but add in two men who adore Nouri and the mix turns spicy. Clint Chamberlain is Ethan's lawyer, nursing a secret passion for Nouri. He's more than up to the task at hand, but will Nouri stray? And then there is Charles Mason, the private eye Nouri hires to track her errant hubby's activities. That Mason is her one-time lover only adds fuel to the already combustible cast of characters. And I haven't even mentioned Clint's mentally deranged wife, Becka, or Nouri's best friend, the deceitful Genna.
Before the last page, new relationships will be established and some will end in murder. Nothing is really resolved for Nouri or her dashing suitors. You'll have to read book two in the Lambert series if you want answers. That's what I intend to do!
Recommended for mature readers due to strong sexual content.
What more can anyone say after so many rave reviews? Victoria Taylor Murray has achieved what so many writers only dream about--readers who love her books and want more. This series is the kind of reading you savor for that get-away time at the cottage or long train or plane ride, and if you are lucky enough to go on a cruise, having VTM along to read is another bit of wonderful entertainment to enjoy. As other reviewers advise, the best treat you can give yourself is to buy the entire series so you don't have to wait, as everyone else did, for your next novel to come out. Thank you, Victoria, for giving us a romping good time. Now, how long do we have wait for another series like this one? Not long, I hope.
