Ghosts and mystery and romance -- a fine combination. The main characters, Clare and Zach, once again face a ghost and its mystery and the job to "lay it to rest." Not ever a simple task. Clare struggles with her "gift" at seeing and hearing ghosts which is new to her, and Zach struggles with no longer being a sheriff and being "disabled." Meanwhile they struggle to figure out their relationship -- one that baffles them both. Although this is a work of fiction, Ms Owens manages to make her people real and solid. No fancy fantasy and 'love conquers all' here. Fully satisfying and not insulting to the reader. Robin Owens knows how to develop real-life characters with all their strengths and limitations leaving the reader to decide to like them or not. I never feel "pushed" or manipulated to accept a character in her novels. Her plots are true to the characters' time and place. Her sense of time and place rings true even if the time and place are not of Earth (like her 'Heart' books - which are fabulous). A fun read, not adrenaline-packed but at a good pace to enjoy the story. I gave a five-star rating to this book for its genre, not to compare it to Michael Connelly or Earnest Hemmingway -- completely different writers and genres.

I’m loving this series! I’m just going to say, read a couple chapters of the first book. You’ll get hooked. It’s the perfect blend of drama, humor, and intrigue. The supernatural aspect just flows in perfectly. I’m onto book 3! Join me, you won’t be disappointed!
Absolutely loved this second book in the new Ghost series by Robin Owens, a very talented and imaginative author. In this installment we watch the relationship between Claire and Zach grow as Claire comes to accept the reality of her unwanted gift and Zach is becoming more accepting of his new life as well. I like the fact the love story part of this series is not something rushed or forced, but allowed to develop through the characters' shared experiences and taking the time to get to know one another. And Enzo makes me smile. Well done, Robin!
Too often, the second book in a series is less than the first--but not this time. Owens carries her characterization into a really strong place with this one, bringing us into the strengths of both major characters easily and smoothly. Once again, the tale trips past my eyes with grace, and I enjoy both the suspense and the humor of the plot. The action is well-planned and works nicely within the context of the beginning series. Can't wait for the next installment!
This one is better than the first in the series as the basic settings of the series are already in place. The heroine is much stronger and more assertive and the hero is beginning to come into the paranormal play too. You really start to see more of how he'll be involved. I'm really looking forward to see how his specialty is going to work. My favorite parts of this series is Owens' use of historical characters. I grew up in the area so it's fun to read about stories and areas I know too.
OK, I do enjoy reading these books but... like many others I'm somewhat disappointed with Clare. She's just a bit too wishy-washy. I like Enzo (though not his all CAPS SHOUTING). And Zach is getting annoying with his constant griping. The billionaire was a cardboard cut-out and I wanted to slap him silly. The ghost in this one is charming and the setting is lovely. But it's definitely light reading and not as good as her Heart books.

Bought it yesterday, read it today and, as I said, I did enjoy it (although not as much as I did the first one). Enjoyed it enough to be looking forward to the next one in Feb.
This has its ups and downs.. More ups.... I love the Dog.. She makes him so cute.. Like having the Older Ladies they are all good and sweet and funny. I like it hat you can see Claire and Zack evolve.. Like Rossi and the rest of the side line. Love you his Ghost, well loved the one in the first book too. This Series IS GETTING BETTER WITH EACH BOOK.. WILL BE STARTING THE NEXT ONE TODAY.. A little iffy on having a real evil one this time but we will see. ENJOY
Ghost Layer is the 2nd installment of the new Ghost Seer series by Robin D. Owen. I have loved her books for years and continue to read all of her Heart Mate series. The Ghost Seer books are the first ones that are primarily mystery books. Mysteries are my first love and Ms. Owens has blended the mystery, paranormal and romance together masterfully. I read the first book 2 days ago and just finished the second. Now I find myself impatiently waiting for the third installment. The books of this series will suck you in and keep you turning the pages. I found myself fully engaged in the story and with the characters. Well worth the price and the time. A real keeper....I think I will read these books again and again.
